Revisiting Salcedo Market

For both Bubba and I, last Saturday morning was spent mostly sitting on dentist chairs of our respective dental doctors in Greenhills.  After which, we had the urge to drive to Makati to revisit one of our favorite Saturday destinations in 2006-2007.

Salcedo Market seems to be busier that noon than the last time we were here and the market feels more flocked with stalls than I last remember.  It looks the same to Bubba.

On the Table

Omee’s Buko Lychee Sherbet (Cup) PHP 45

This is the highlight of our trip!  I love these buko lychee sherbets!!!  I’m so glad that I now know where to order when I’m craving for one.  We started with this to clean our palates.  After lunch, I ordered ½ gallon to give to Bubba’s mom.

Kashmir Shawarma PHP 80

Kashmir is one of those places that can spell authenticity.  I ordered beef shawarma for myself that Bubba finished –best shawarma in town, quality beef that’s easy to chew on, pita bread is soft and melts in your mouth, fresh veggies and garlic yogurt sauce that’s not too pungent.

Tita Ope’s Spinach Lasagna PHP 150

For orders, call (632) 896-7265 or 896-8576

Len Kahn’s Beef Ribs PHP 175

Grilled fall off the bone beef ribs with yummy barbeque sauce… something definitely to go back for in Salcedo Market.  The flavorful meat was tasty on its own but the barbecue sauce emphasized the flavor.  For orders, call (632) 8092963/(0917) 2512424.

Chicken Ala King (2) PHP 60

A Salcedo Market visit does not pass without getting at least 2 mini-cups of Chicken Ala King from the Pampanga stall (I just forget the name now).  It’s a staple in every Salcedo visit of mine as long as they do not run out of it.

Puto Bumbong

Every time we eat at Salcedo Market, we rarely get disappointed.  It’s really an oasis of gastronomic delight in the middle of Salcedo Village in Makati.  Each visit is really worthwhile, if only for the bright and cheerful concessionaires.
